CIRCULAR: Mathematics Talent Test and Science Talent Test – 2026

Subject: Tamil Nadu Science and Technology Centre, Chennai – Conduct of the District-Level Mathematics Talent Test and Science Talent Test – 2026 for students studying in Classes VI to IX in all Government Schools (State Board Government Schools only) and Private Schools (including State Board Government Aided Schools, Matriculation, CBSE, ICSE, and Kendriya Vidyalaya Schools) across Tamil Nadu – Regarding.

Overview

The Tamil Nadu Science and Technology Centre (TNSTC), Chennai, is an autonomous institution established by the Government of Tamil Nadu in 1983. The Centre functions under the leadership of the Hon'ble Minister for Higher Education.

1. Mathematics Talent Test Details

• Examination Date: 04.10.2026 (Sunday)
• Examination Time: 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
• Mode of Examination: Offline
• Commencement of Application Registration: 01.08.2026
• Last Date for Submission of Applications: 10.09.2026
• Type of Questions: Objective Type
• Number of Questions: 100 (No Negative Marks)
• Target Classes: Separate question papers for Classes VI, VII, VIII, and IX based on respective class syllabus.
• Question Paper Standard: A Common Question Paper for Government and Private schools; prizes are awarded under separate categories.
• Languages: Tamil and English
• Examination Centres: Notified in each district
• Answering Mode: OMR (Optical Mark Recognition) sheet using Blue or Black Ballpoint Pen only (pencils, gel pens, or other pens strictly prohibited).

• Examination Time: 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
• Mode of Examination: Offline

• Last Date for Submission of Applications: 10.09.2026
• Type of Questions: Objective Type

5. Registration Details

• Mode: Online mode only.
• Application Fee: ₹100/- per examination. Students appearing for both tests must submit separate applications and fees.
• Fee Payment: Online payment only via enclosed QR code (no direct/offline fee accepted).
• Registration Period: 01.08.2026 to 10.09.2026.

6. Prize Details (District Level)

Evaluated and awarded separately for Government School students and Private School students across each class (VI–IX) per district:

Prize Level	Amount	Number of Winners
First Prize	₹3,000/-	1 student
Second Prize	₹2,000/- each	2 students
Third Prize	₹1,000/- each	3 students
Fourth Prize	₹500/- each	5 students

(In case of ties, prize money will be shared equally among eligible students.)
